A NOTE TO THE SARASOTA COUNTY COMMUNITY REGARDING THE CONTINUATION OF PRIMARY CARE
Nov. 28, 2018
The principle of maintaining primary health care for patients without a break in services guided the recent transition of Sarasota County’s Federally Qualified Health Center from the Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County (DOH) to CenterPlace Health (CPH). This process started three years ago with much community input and both DOH and CPH are following the guidance that was provided.
CenterPlace Health wants to reassure the community that it is fully committed to this principle and is currently providing primary health care and related services under a Sliding Fee Discount Program. This program assures that patients have access to all primary health care regardless of their ability to pay. Services continue to be provided at the three existing sites under the CenterPlace Health name. CenterPlace Health is currently contracting with the DOH to provide clinical staffing and will continue to do so over the next few months. As CenterPlace Health builds its human resources capacity, there will be a number employment opportunities.
The Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County should be contacted on questions regarding any layoffs.
